When Mo became homeless at 21, he had nowhere to turn. Nightstop volunteers provided a welcoming place to stay and a foundation to build a brighter future.
Mo, 26, lives in Oldham with his wife and 3-year-old child. But a few years ago, he found himself with nowhere to go after family arguments left him homeless.
“I finished college but couldn’t find an apprenticeship, which made supporting myself very difficult,” Mo explains. He found some part-time work as a security guard, but it wasn’t enough to afford rent.
That’s when Nightstop stepped in. Mo was able to stay with volunteer hosts who opened their homes and hearts, providing a safe, welcoming place to sleep, a hot meal, and a listening ear.
“I can’t believe there’s people out there who really want to help others in this way. It’s wonderful,” says Mo. “My confidence and wellbeing have grown so much since I got this place.”
With Nightstop’s support and the help of our volunteer hosts, Mo was able to secure stable housing. Things started falling into place – he met his wife, became a father, and landed a full-time job he loves as an HGV driver.
“Things have really levelled up over the last few years. Since I got my place, I’ve also got a full-time job I love, so you should never give up.”
Mo’s story shows how a spare room and generosity of spirit can empower a young person to transform their life. By donating to Nightstop, you could provide a safe place to sleep and a fresh start for a young person with no safe place to sleep.
We have volunteer hosts ready to welcome young people like Mo into their homes. But the costs of food, fuel, training, support and providing a safe, quality service add up.
Your donation can make a huge difference for a young person in need of a safe place to sleep tonight.
