Fundraise with your community

Your community, church, or school could be the spark that lights the path for young people at risk of homelessness. By fundraising together, your community could offer a young person safety, security and the hope for a brighter future.

get your community involved

There are so many fantastic ways to fundraise with your community groups, churches or schools. Here are just a few ideas to get you started:

  • Organise a collection: invite your community to give generously, knowing that every penny raised is a step towards transforming a young person’s life.
  • Host an event: whether it’s a bake sale, a Weighted Walk, or a prayer vigil, get your community involved and inspire others to join you. Don’t forget to spread the word on social media and let your local newspaper know too.
  • Festival giving: religious festivals such as Lent, Ramadan, and other spiritual occasions are a time of charitable giving. During Lent, for example, you could ask your community to give up a daily or weekly luxury like a trip to the coffee shop, and donate what they save instead – turning a personal act of faith into a powerful force for good.

Seeds of Change art

Children taking action to support young people facing homelessness

Pupils from The Genesis Education Trust’s St Mary’s, St Saviour’s, and St Margaret’s Primary Schools raised an incredible £4,000 for Depaul UK.

Through their Seeds of Change project, children explored the realities and misconceptions of homelessness, learning about the need for compassion and kindness.

Inspired, they sprang into action to raise money. Activities included a sponsored Skipathon and presenting TED-style talks to parents.

They also created artwork for auction and engaged in fun activities at their end-of-summer-term Festivals of Hope.

We are passionate about enabling children to be active change makers. Working collaboratively with Depaul UK has shown them that they can drive positive change. As a result, our children are full of confidence to advocate for social justice in their community and beyond.

Bring your school community together to support young people experiencing homelessness. Take on a Sleepout, dedicate an assembly to raise awareness, or host a charity concert.

Fundraise with my church

There are many meaningful ways your church community can support young people. You might dedicate a service or deliver a talk to raise awareness about youth homelessness. Or take action by doing a Weighted Walk.
