“Learning circus skills is really joyful. It’s been used in various places, in refugee camps and with military groups. It won’t take away the trauma, but it enables young people to develop positive new memories, and new connections. For young people in Statham House, getting used to a new culture, trying to live independently away from family while also waiting to get their leave to remain in the UK, life can be very stressful. So, trying to bring a bit of fun and enjoyment back into young people’s lives is a really important thing.”
