The Merchant Taylors’ Foundation

The Merchant Taylors’ Foundation has committed to helping Depaul UK to turn off the tap on youth homelessness in London by donating an incredible £100,000 towards a new homelessness prevention service for young people under 16.

This fantastic donation will enable Depaul UK to work with over 4,000 children and young people in 2021 by delivering:

Homelessness Prevention Schools Education Programme

Depaul UK will deliver bold and relatable homelessness prevention workshops to secondary school students within Hackney, Lewisham, Southwark and Tower Hamlets. The programme will build up young people’s knowledge of youth homelessness and related issues, by delivering whole year workshops on topics including relationships, family breakdown, exploitation and abuse, mental wellbeing and risk-taking. These workshops will be combined with teacher training and specialist sessions for young people who are at higher risk of homelessness, creating a referral pathway through schools to Depaul’s under-16s mediation service.

Family Mediation

Family breakdown is the biggest cause of youth homelessness, yet we know that mediation can prevent this from happening by providing support, advice and guidance that will help to improve relationships and reduce conflict at home.

The support of The Merchant Taylors’ Foundation will enable Depaul UK to launch a new mediation service for young people under 16 years and their families in London in 2021. We will also create a ground-breaking toolkit for Depaul UK and other professionals around the UK to support the delivery of effective family mediation.

Thank You

Thank you to everyone at The Merchant Taylors’ Foundation for your incredible support that will help to prevent youth homelessness in 2021 and beyond.
