Nightstop Birmingham and Solihull supports young people aged 16-25 who are at risk of homelessness.
Trained and vetted hosts in the community provide a safe place to stay, washing facilities, a meal and a friendly listening ear. It is a night-by-night, same day emergency service. While the young person stays with a host, Nightstop Birmingham and Solihull will support them to find a longer-term solution.
Nightstop Birmingham and Solihull is part of a UK-wide network accredited by Depaul UK. The service is delivered by St Basil’s in Birmingham and Solihull.
Get in touch with the St Basil’s Youth Hub. If you don’t have access to a phone you can drop in to the Youth Hub in person. They will then ask some questions to determine if Nightstop is right for you.
If you are referred, Nightstop will match you with a volunteer host for the night and help you get to their home. You’ll have access to a 24/7 support line during your stay. You’ll leave the host’s home at an agreed time in the morning with breakfast and a packed lunch. Nightstop will work with you to find a longer-term solution and suggest other options if the service isn’t the right fit for you.

Our volunteers support young people at risk of homelessness by providing a safe place to stay and practical, day-to-day support. With full training and ongoing support, volunteers play an important role in helping young people in crisis.
As a volunteer host, you offer a safe place to stay in a spare room in your home. Hosts provide a bed for the night, a meal, washing facilities and a welcoming, supportive environment.
As a volunteer driver, you transport young people to their Nightstop host accommodation, ensuring they arrive safely and offering reassurance during what can be a difficult time.
Nightstop volunteers are part of a wider network of people supporting emergency accommodation for young people across the UK. The service relies on volunteers to operate.
If you are interested in becoming a host, driver or supporting in another way, please get in touch.
You can volunteer as much or as little as suits you. All volunteers are recruited through a safe and structured process, including references, background checks and training. All young people are carefully assessed before being matched with a host.
