Will you brave the elements and sleep outside for the night to raise money to support young people at risk of homelessness? Here is a handy little checklist of things to think about:
Where will I sleepout?
The simplest place is your garden. Safe, secure, and you don’t need permission. If you do use other locations, make sure you get permission from the right people. This could be from the council or the landowner. If you’re a school or youth group, you could also consider a Sleep In!
What if it rains?
The only certainty is unpredictability! Make sure you’re prepared for rain. Bring waterproofs, layers, and somewhere to take shelter. If you’re using a tent you can hide out should the heavens open. If not, is there somewhere you can go if the weather take a turn?
When should I do it?
Set a date and time that work for you, making sure you have enough time to get ready and reach your fundraising target.
If you’ve decided to sleepout to raise money, we’d love to hear about it, and if we can support you let us know. Please use the Let us know button to email us.
If you’re ready to go, set a fundraising target and share your Just Giving fundraising page with your family and friends. You can post photos on social media (don’t forget to tag us in) and let everyone know how it went. Sharing your event helps us to encourage others to do the same. Thank you so much for being brave and taking on the challenge for young people at risk of homelessness. 🧡
