Help turn fear into hope this winter

This year, our generous partners are doubling all donations made by 31 December. Donate today and your donation will be doubled.*

Every four minutes, a young person in the UK faces homelessness.

We’re facing the worst youth homelessness crisis on record. This winter, thousands of young people will sleep rough or in unsafe places – cold, frightened and alone.  We believe no young person should have to face that fear. Through Nightstop, we provide same-night emergency accommodation in the homes of trained and vetted volunteer hosts. But Nightstop is more than just a bed for the night. For a young person at their most vulnerable, it can be life changing.

We would like you to meet Bob and Ginny, two of the incredible hosts who open their home to keep young people safe through Nightstop.

“We are Bob and Ginny, we live in rural Northumberland, surrounded by hills and coastline. We often get asked why we host for Nightstop. For us, that’s not the right question. The real question is, why not?

“Since April this year, we’ve been opening our home to those with nowhere safe to go. In just six months, we’ve welcomed several young people, offering not just a bed but warmth, kindness, and dignity. Everyone we’ve hosted has been appreciative, and we hope their story going forward is a little easier and happier than before.

“When our first Nightstop guest arrived, we weren’t nervous. All we needed to do was make sure they felt safe and comfortable. That’s what every young person needs most when they walk through our door, to know they’re not being judged, and that they can breathe for a while.

“Winter is the most vulnerable time of all. The thought of any young person left outside in the cold is unbearable. And yet, it happens. Supporting Nightstop matters because this isn’t a faraway issue, it’s right here. It’s your community. It’s your children.

“Nightstop has brought us joy, friendship, and perspective. The young people who have stayed with us have given us as much as we’ve given them. We’ve met such lovely people, and it’s hard to put into words just how rewarding it is.”

Help turn fear into hope by donating to our urgent winter appeal*

Right now, demand for Nightstop is soaring, and without urgent funding, we won’t be able to help everyone who needs us this winter.

Together, we can ensure that young people have a safe place to turn. Every donation could help change lives.

Your gift could help pay for:

  • £8 could pay the travel cost for a young person who’s left everything behind to reach their Nightstop home safely, offering comfort, dignity and a step towards feeling hopeful. A small yet life-changing gift
  • £18 could ensure there’s someone at the end of the phone for the next young person with nowhere else to turn – ensuring they have a safe place to sleep that night and offering kindness and hope when it’s needed most.
  • £38 could provide a safe bed for the night in a Nightstop host’s home. A friendly, listening ear along with hot meals, washing facilities and personal toiletries. Small comforts that can be life-changing for a young person in crisis.
  • £54 could pay for a set of pyjamas and a fresh change of clothes, offering a little comfort and dignity to a young person at their most vulnerable.

Together, we can keep young people safe and off the streets this winter and give them the chance they deserve for a brighter future.

Will you help turn fear into hope for a young person this winter?
