Computershare’s £200,000 milestone donation supporting young people at risk of homelessness

We are delighted to announce that our corporate partner Computershare has reached an impressive financial milestone by raising £200,0000 in just five years to support young people at risk of homelessness.

The organisation’s generous donations are used to deliver crisis intervention, safe housing mental health support and long-term guidance – including support with financial education and money management – for the young people who use our services across the UK.

The £200,000 has been awarded through Computershare’s Loan Services and The Deposit Protection Scheme (The DPS) Charity Fund.

In the last year alone, rough sleeping in the UK has increased by 20%, with a young person becoming homeless approximately every four minutes.

Covid, the cost-of-living crisis and the lack of investment in affordable housing have all contributed to a highly pressurised rental market.

The Computershare Loan Services and The DPS Charity Fund supports organisations that combat financial hardship, either through education or helping people in financial difficulty, and those involved in housing, particularly those supporting the homeless or those in need of secure accommodation.

Depaul UK supports young people who are either experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Our tailored and holistic services are designed to meet their needs at every stage.

On a recent visit to our head office, Andrew Jones, Chief Executive Officer at Computershare Loan Services, said:

We are very proud to continue our support for Depaul, especially at a time when significant volumes of young people are becoming homeless or risk losing their home.

“The charity really resonates with our employees at Computershare, who are highly supportive of Depaul’s work.

“During our most recent visit we were inspired by the tremendous work the charity does to support some of the most vulnerable in society at a key turning point in their lives.”

Sam Dunne, our Head of Corporate Partnerships, who showed Andrew and the Computershare team around said:

We can’t thank Computershare enough for their dedication and generosity. We are seeing increasingly high numbers of young people seeking help from our services, without a safe place to stay or a family network to fall back on.

“Computershare’s support has been invaluable, as costs for our services continues to rise. We are able to keep our doors open, respond to emergencies, and help young people build stable, independent lives. For our clients, homelessness is something they overcome and is not something that comes to define them or their future.

“We’re proud to have reached such an incredible milestone with Computershare, and we’re excited for what the future of the partnership will bring.”
