Kassi, 21, was sofa-surfing for around four months after family conflict and the abuse she suffered led her to leave home. University had offered her hope of an independent future, but without family financial support, her student loan was refused. She was left unable to continue her studies.
She found Nightstop through an online search and was welcomed into the home of a trained volunteer host.
“Knowing I had a place to shower and sleep instead of having to sleep rough, it was incredibly reassuring and comforting.”
With our volunteer hosts, Kassi found a safe place to sleep, a meal and people who treated her with dignity.
Kassi is now looking forward to the year with genuine hope. She is returning to university, having received help from Depaul UK’s staff at the Hub, to achieve this. But her big dream is to get into youth work.
