Take on a Weighted Walk

Will you carry the weight for a young person at risk of homelessness? Organise a Weighted Walk and the money you raise could provide safety, security and the chance of a brighter future.

What is a Weighted Walk

Whether fleeing abuse or being asked to leave the family home, a young person will often pack quickly and leave home with whatever they can carry. When faced with nowhere safe to stay, young people carry the weight of their belongings, but also the weight and worry of an unknown future.

Will you help support them by organising a sponsored Weighted Walk? The money you raise by carrying your own heavy load could provide safety and security for a young person at risk of homelessness, as well as the chance of a brighter future.

HOW IT WORKS

Choose your own distance, your own route, and your own weight. It’s your Weighted Walk, your way. Load up your rucksack with whatever you can carry. Fill it with books, cans, or clothes, and get going. You can ask a few friends to tag along too. Or, if you’re part of a community group, school or church, you could do an even bigger event.

The money you raise could help provide emergency accommodation, mental health support, and even family mediation where it’s safe to return home. You’ll also be helping to provide education and training opportunities, and supporting young people to develop life skills like budgeting and cooking.
