how nightstop works

Nightstop is a community response to a national crisis. It connects young people facing a night on the streets with trained and vetted volunteer hosts who open their homes. It is more than just a bed. It’s a warm welcome, a hot meal, a shower, clean clothes and toiletries. Simple things that can be life-changing for a young person at their most vulnerable.

Sofia's story

Sofia knows what it’s like to be excluded for who you are. Forced to leave home after coming out as Trans, she found herself without support, safety, or stability. Today, with support from Depaul UK, she’s not just rebuilding her life – she’s helping shape how we support other young LGBTQ+ people in our services. Donate to help others like Sofia.

Alan's story

Alan, a biomedical student fled civil war to seek safety in the UK. When his support was cut off, he faced homelessness, until Nightstop offered him a safe place and hope. Ellen's story

For the first time in her life, Ellen feels safe – and proud. After years of instability, abuse, and constant moves, she’s found not just a roof over her head, but a community that values her voice. From joining a band to helping shape services for others, Ellen is proof that even the most turbulent beginnings don’t have to define the ending. Donate to help others like Ellen.

This simple intervention relies on our trained and vetted Nightstop volunteer hosts and you to believe in young people, giving them a sense of hope so they can start to look forward to a brighter future. We have volunteer hosts ready to welcome young people into their homes. But the costs of food, fuel, clothing, training and vetting volunteers and providing ongoing support from teams of staff, do come at a price.
