St Vincent de Paul was a man who saw Christ in the poor. He understood the extraordinary power of ordinary people — their generosity, faith, and kindness — to bring about lasting change.
His spirit lives on today through our Nightstop service: an emergency accommodation network that relies on trained and vetted volunteer hosts from communities across the country. These hosts open their homes — and their hearts — to young people in crisis, offering not only a safe bed for the night, but a lifeline of hope.
When a young person arrives at Nightstop, they are exhausted, anxious, and have nowhere left to turn. But Nightstop offers more than a roof. It is a warm welcome, a kind conversation, a listening ear. It is a hot meal, a shower, clean clothes — the simple, human gestures that restore dignity and trust.
£54 could provide a safe bed for the night in a Nightstop hosts’s home. A friendly, listening ear, a hot meal, personal toiletries and pyjamas. Small comforts that can be life-changing for a young person in crisis.
Sofia knows what it’s like to be excluded for who you are. Forced to leave home after coming out as Trans, she found herself without support, safety, or stability. Today, with support from Depaul UK, she’s not just rebuilding her life—she’s helping shape how we support other young LGBTQ+ people in our services. Donate to help others like Sofia.
Alex was abused as a child. He escaped and ended up sleeping on the streets. Thankfully, he found Nightstop. With our staff's help, Alex was able to find a place to live in supported accomodation. Donate to help others like Alex.
For the first time in her life, Ellen feels safe—and proud. After years of instability, abuse, and constant moves, she’s found not just a roof over her head, but a community that values her voice. From joining a band to helping shape services for others, Ellen is proof that even the most turbulent beginnings don’t have to define the ending. Donate to help others like Ellen.
