Nightstop MK offers emergency accommodation to young people facing homelessness. This accommodation is in the homes of trained and vetted volunteers, who are supported by professional staff 24/7.
The community-focused approach provides a safe and welcoming environment for guests. This is usually a more beneficial environment for young people than traditional homeless shelters and emergency accommodation.
The national Nightstop Network comprises of over 30 services across the UK and is run by national homelessness charity Depaul UK. Hosts come from all walks of life.
Nightstop in Milton Keynes relies on the generosity of volunteer hosts and drivers. The hosts offer their spare bedrooms on a night-by-night basis and receive expenses payments to cover the additional cost of having another person in the house. The drivers collect the guests from an arranged location and take them to their accommodation for the night. You can find out more information about becoming a Nightstop volunteer here and contact the Nightstop MK team using the details below.
Nightstop MK is now accepting referrals through Milton Keynes Council. If you or someone you know is in need of immediate help, information on how to access housing support from Milton Keynes Council can be found here or contact us directly.
Placements usually last from one night to three weeks. During this time, the Nightstop MK team will work with guests to help them find more stable accommodation. Most Nightstop placements will involve staying with more than one host.
Young people are given a private room, a warm meal and access to washing facilities in a safe home. They will also be offered breakfast in the morning and a packed lunch, if they need one.
