Bradford Nightstop supports young people aged 18-25 who are at risk of homelessness.
Trained and vetted hosts in the community provide a safe place to stay, washing facilities, a meal and a friendly listening ear. It is a night-by-night, same day emergency service. While the young person stays with a host, Bradford Nightstop will support them to find a longer-term solution.
Bradford Nightstop is part of a UK-wide network accredited by Depaul UK. The service is delivered by local charity Bradford Nightstop in Bradford, Kirklees, and Calderdale.
Go to Bradford Nightstop’s website to see which organisations you can contact to be referred to us and let the organisation know you’d like to be referred to Nightstop. They will then ask some questions to determine if Nightstop is right for you.
If you are referred, Nightstop will match you with a volunteer host for the night. You’ll have access to a 24/7 support line during your stay. You’ll leave the host’s home at an agreed time in the morning with breakfast and a packed lunch. The organisation who referred you to Nightstop will work with you to find a longer-term solution and suggest other options if the service isn’t the right fit for you.
Our volunteers support young people at risk of homelessness by providing a safe place to stay and practical, day-to-day support. With full training and ongoing support, volunteers play an important role in helping young people in crisis.
As a volunteer host, you offer a safe place to stay in a spare room in your home. Hosts provide a bed for the night, a meal, washing facilities and a welcoming, supportive environment.
As a telephone contact person, you take referrals over the telephone on 3-hour shifts worked from home.
Nightstop volunteers are part of a wider network of people supporting emergency accommodation for young people across the UK. The service relies on volunteers to operate.
If you are interested in becoming a host, driver or supporting in another way, please get in touch.
You can volunteer as much or as little as suits you. All volunteers are recruited through a safe and structured process, including background checks and training. All young people are carefully assessed before being matched with a host.
